Birthday Girl!

So after a long day of yard work, on her birthday no less!, we had a swell dinner of duck breast and mashed potatoes with sweet pots too, and an antipasto salad. Then the apricot cake with lemon butter cream frosting, coconut, and strawberry raspberry liquor drizzle. MMMMM!

W made the Bangor Deadly News for our Wicked Good Jack-O-Lantern display at Fairwinds Florist (Cullen's flower shop) in Blue Hill. Alas, beauty is fleeting and these all rotted in a few days. We are always looking for fresh blood, so come carve a gourd with us next time!

I survived GWAR live!

GWAAAAAAAARRRRRRR!!!! Who knew I could see the filthiest band in rock inside the confines and safety of Maine's borders. In Orono, no less. Anyhow, second time I've seen these guys, and although not as outright offensive this time around, still just as messy. And HORSE the band was the most underrated opener since Incubus opened for Limp Bizcuit

Mandala

Initial sketch for a fragmented mandala in black and grey, deconstructed for her pleasure... To me mandala art is like an optical illusion, where the mind creates three dimensional space out of two dimensions. Stare at the forms long enough and physical space begins to expand in the minds eye, unfolding impossibly, expanding infinitely, conflicting spatial information shorting out the assumptions of the minds chatter, revealing that which lies beneath the surface.
